James W. Evan Children’s Center

The James W. Evan Children’s Center (at 510 South Eighth St. Hamilton, OH) is open year round and free of charge to children grades K-6. Hamilton Living Water Ministry, Inc. is designated as an America Reads and Adopt-A-School site through our partnership with Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Numerous college students, church and community members volunteer each day to provide much needed homework assistance and literacy intervention.

  • Academic assistance through homework help, tutoring, literacy initiatives and intervention.
  • Programs offered to our children include dance, art, drama, creative writing, food and nutrition, fitness and Life Skill and Asset Development Classes.
  • The Summer Program offers art, dance, music, fitness, outdoor play, field trips, literacy activities, ”Grub Club” garden program, Girl Scouts and mentoring programs.
  • Field Trips are available through generous donations of our supporters to various places such as the Cincinnati Zoo, the Newport Aquarium, Cincinnati Reds games and much more.
  • Service Opportunities. The children have several opportunities to give back to their community through activities such as Neighborhood Beautification Projects, partnering with the local homeless shelter, helping elderly individuals with yard work, and visiting nursing homes.

Our 8-week summer program is an enjoyable recreational summer program filled with opportunities to learn and grow in an enjoyable and safe environment. Youth learn basic life skills like sewing, cooking, gardening, conflict resolution, anger management, and appreciation of diversity-all while  having lots of fun.

Hamilton Living Water Ministry, Inc. is a sponsor site, through the USDA and Ohio Department of Education,  for the Summer Food Service Program and Backpack Demonstration Program hundreds of youth receive a healthy lunch and snack during the summer.
